Are one of the most magical places in the forest.
They are created by Redwood trees that have grown together for thousands of years.
A single Redwood tree will have many sprouts at the bottom of the trunk. Over time, the original Grandmother tree will fall or in many instances be cut and the remaining trees grow in almost a perfect circle around her as the next generation of trees. It was once thought that the trees in a fairy circle were exact genetic copies of the original Grandmother tree. But scientists have found this is not the case. In other words, they are original trees of their genetics. They have the benefit of being connected at the roots by a wide and narrow system and live together almost as if they are a family.
Acient lore speaks of fairy circles with wonder and fear. It is said that fairies dance and play in these circles. If a human dares to enter, he may be enchanted into dancing until he collapes from exaustion. It is also said that for humans time is lost inside these magical circles. Once inside a fairy circle, and if you get out, much time can have passed without your knowlage.
I do hope that you dear reader will someday be in a Redwood forest and see a fairy circle for yourself.
