Why would you not use natural colors for food?

Freeze-dried fruits are a great way to color cookies and frosting naturally. I tested Blueberries, Strawberries, Bananas, and Green Apples for their coloring.

The Blueberries turned a really pretty purple. Although they were hard to crush. I used a food processor and then crushed them with a pestle and mortar. They added a lot more flavor to the cookies than I thought.

The Strawberries an awesome dark pink. They were easy to crush with just a pestle and mortar. And the cookies really tasted Strawberry!

The apples again needed the food processor first, then the pestle and mortar. They had some of the biggest tangiest flavors of them all.

The Bananas were easy to crush, although they did turn a little brown on the cookies. Which was ok, because I made Pineapple shaped cookies with Bananas and Apples. Which were delicious!

I’d say these are a total WIN! I will defiantly use them again!
